New Year Red Flags




Day 4 of January and I’ve already been inundated with messages about detoxes, 30-day waistline trimmers, and “Burn Fat Fast” meal programs for longer than I would like. Everywhere we go, we get hit with messages that we are not thin enough; not fit enough; not worthy of the food we eat. It’s so easy to fall prey to these messages- they’re really freaking good at their jobs! 


But guess what? YOU ARE BETTER THAN ALL OF THE GARBAGE. 


All that nonsense doesn’t belong in the space between your ears- keep that space free for gratitude, discipline, and positivity. There are some red flags if you’re unsure what messages are not worth taking in:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

❌ Detox Plans like juice cleanses, detox teas, or weird ritualistic things like only drinking lemon water and honey for days on end. These plans are posing a “solution” to your “weight problem” that really doesn’t exist in the first place. You. Do. Not. Need. To. Take. Up. Less. Space. Please write that down, and scream it from the rooftops. Or just say it to yourself every morning. Either of those work.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

❌ 30-day Challenges that restrict what you put in your mouth (food ya dinguses). X Diet or Challenge that helped you lose 30 pounds because all you ate was lettuce and plain Grilled Chicken is not sustainable, nor is it nutritious enough to carry you longer than the 30 days you mustered through. Your diet is made up of everything you do on a daily basis to fuel your body. It is not a quick fix or the solution to the relationship you have with yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

❌ Booty-Blasting, Fat-Burning, Ab-Crunching programs and meal plans that guarantee radical weight/fat loss in an absurd amount of time. First of all, if there’s one take away you leave here with, I hope it’s that these programs aren’t going to give you the long-term success you want. They probably won’t even get you to see the results you want in the time they promise. Now that we understand that, GET THAT ISH OFF YOUR SCREEN. The reason those programs exist is not to help you achieve your goals. Those programs exist to make money. They are not meant for long-term success, and they won’t get you there. Hard work, consistent effort, and a healthy mindset will get you to achieve your goals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I know how easy it can be to get sucked into thinking this is the healthy thing to do, or the right thing to do. I’ve been there. I did that juice cleanse, and I bought that program. Did they help? No- all they did was make me feel worse about my body and myself. You don’t deserve that- nobody does.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This year, make the commitment to become educated on your health and fitness. Make the commitment to invest in your health, not just look for the easy or quick solution.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Make the commitment to love yourself as much as I love you.⠀⠀
